ABOUT HWC

Hot Wheel Check, Inc. Since 2011

Hot Wheel Check, Inc, was established by a father & son team in 2011. My father was an owner/operator truck driver for over 20 years and witnessed many unnecessary catastrophies on the road. He saw a need for a device that could alert the driver to a possible overheating within the wheel area. Now thanks to him and this simple device, you no longer have to risk burning your hand while performing your required routine check of the wheels.

We worked in conjunction with the international leader in color change temperature indicating technology to design and develop a proprietary irreversible label that would warn of possible overheating issues.

We have been primarily focused on Commercial Truck and Rental Fleets over the last few years and have sold over a half-million labels worldwide! After years of usage and testing we have decided to make the HWC Heat Indicator Label available to the general public for personal use as well as your business needs.

ABOUT THE HOT WHEEL CHECK LABEL

When temperature of the wheel bearing area exceeds 121°C / 250°F, the temperature-sensitive white arrow changes and remains bright orange, warning of an overheated wheel-end component condition. It improves the trailer visual inspection and provides a very useful warning indicator for possible failing wheel-end components.

HOT WHEEL TEMP INDICATORS placed on the wheel hub can detect hot brake drum and or bearing and lubricant deficiencies which are not detectable during routine visual inspections or while checking wheel fasteners and tire inflation. In the past the driver would have to physically touch the backside of the wheel to determine excess heat. If this inspection wasn't done at the time of occurrence the problem could go unnoticed and result in further damages.

Trailers with surge- brakes like U-Haul do not have a housing exposed will have to place the label on the trailer rim close to centric centered pilot hole opening. An additional label can be used on trailers with brakes to indicate that it’s shoe may dragging. Most trailers use an exposed bearing housing, so place it on the bearing housing.

Using the HWC Indicator Labels on trailers equipped with cosmetic metal or non-metallic center covers will have to allow your own discretion on the label placement.

Label application requires no component alteration and does not compromise any existing rules or requirements.

Normal temp of wheel bearing grease should not exceed 250 degrees Fahrenheit-121 degrees Celsius.

Directions and specifications on trailer grease containers state high temperature protection starting at 300 degrees to 400 degrees and the sustained temperatures will change at DROP POINT which means turning grease to oil above those temperatures.
